Spring
is in the air!
Finally
spring has arrived.
With the warm days of last week the Hostas at our
nursery have, at last, started to emerge.
The
Heuchera’s are forming new leaves now and the
first flower buds appear.
The Tiarella’s are already in bloom!

Catalogue 2010
|
 |
|
For
several weeks now, our catalogue 2010 is
online available. We have 20 new hostas
in the catalogue. Not
just because they are new but hostas that we
find a good addition to the range: for
instance a
reversed 'June', 2 sports of 'Blue Mouse
Ears', fragrant hostas and a tetraploid form
of 'Halcyon'.
Heuchera
and Co count 19 new varieties:
14 American and 5 Belgian
introductions.
All new Hostas costs € 10. We have 2
other price levels: € 7 and
€ 5.

New introductions
of HOSTAS & ZO
|
For
several years (Heuchera 'Blackout',
2007) we are
concentrating on
Heuchera breeding.
This
year, we
introduce 5 varieties:
4 Heuchera’s and 1 x
Heucherella: Heuchera
'Bardot',
Heuchera 'Binoche',
Heuchera 'Birkin',
Heuchera 'Red
Dress' and x Heucherella 'Art
Deco'.
Some customers have already seen Heuchera
'Binoche' and x Heucherella 'Art Deco' and they
were all immediately hooked on. Heuchera 'Binoche'
is nearly as dark as 'Blackout' and has the felt-like
leaves of 'Caramel'. x Heucherella 'Art Deco' has a very large
brown felty Tiarella-formed leaves with a dark
center. The flowers are
spectacular. |

This
year we will have 3 open days weekends
24
and 25 April
29 and 30 May
26 and 27 June
Like
every year you can also find us at the better
garden shows in Belgium and France.

|
Finally,
the new book by Mark Zilis is available. Mark
Zilis is the Hosta specialist in the world and
owner of Q & Z nursery in America.

mail-order season is very busy. More
and more customers, not only from Belgium but also
from all over Europe, choose to receive their
plants through our mail order service and to pay
online via the secured website of PayPal. A quick
and save way to receive your plants without you to
make
a move.

Practical
advice
|
|
Now
that the days are getting warmer, the slugs and
snails become active.
They might not yet eat your hostas, but it is important to reduce
their numbers now.
We use Ferramol (Escar-go of
Ecostyle): save for pets and wildlife in your
garden, but effective to treat slugs and snails.
